My Top Two Spot Treatments For Blemishes & Breakouts
Throughout the years, I have tried a few different products that are designed for spot treating blemishes, but for the most part they have all been duds. Thankfully, I have finally found two products that actually work and have become my holy grails for blemish defense!
ZO Complexion Clearing Masque
The first product I want to share with you, is the COMPLEXION CLEARING MASQUE by ZO Skin Health. This little blue potion is my all time favorite face masks and one of my top two faves for spot treatment. I use this mask all over my face in my regular routine, and after noticing how fast the mask helped with breakouts, I started using it as a spot treatment as well.
For application, after I have cleansed my skin I take a small amount of product on my finger (clean hands of course) or a clean q-tip and apply a thin dot on the affected area or areas and then I sleep with it on! This way the mask is working with my skin, as it is already powered up and ready to regenerate and repair itself while I sleep.
HanHoo Blemish Patches
Moving on to my ultimate fave. The non-medicated hydrocolliod blemish patches by the brand HanHoo are literal LIFE SAVERS. I know that may sound a little dramatic but I am obsessed. These patches are only a few bucks and you can get them at Walmart in the skincare isle! I have found these extremely helpful to not only prevent a blemish from rising but also zapping blemishes that have already broken the surface. I also love these patches because they are translucent, so it’s super easy to wear these during the day while you are working or running errands.
Also, to be totally real with you guys I do have my moments where I pick at my skin and sometimes that can cause little skin abrasions. I am not proud of it, but it’s just the truth and because these are hydrocolloid patches, they create a moist (worst word in the english language) environment under the patch that promotes skin healing and thus have saved me from some potentially nasty scabs.
Buuuttt… me admitting my wrong doings does not mean it is okay to pick at your face! It is never a good idea and it is simply just not worth it. With that said, I am also very aware that we are only human so if you do make the mistake of picking at your skin, these are great to have on hand(:
I hope y’all enjoyed reading about some of my necessity products and if you do decide to try any of these, I would love to hear your experience and if you love them as much as I do!
Types of Acids in Skincare
* If you are new to using acids in your skincare routine, I recommend starting with a patch test. Just take a small amount of the product and apply it to the inside of your wrist. This is just to make sure you aren’t going to have a negative reaction to the product!(: *
My Smoothie Bowl Recipe
Hi, friends! If you follow me on Instagram you probably already know that I have been OBSESSED with smoothie bowls recently. They are basically my favorite things ever and fortunately for me, they are super easy to make. Because I love them so much, I had to share with y’all the ingredients I use and how I make them at home!
ingredients for smoothie
* measurements are personalized *
unsweetened, original almond milk
mix of frozen fruits (blueberries, bananas, strawberries, etc)
fresh or frozen kale and/or spinach
* I do this to incorporate my greens because I don’t eat them as often as I should *
oats & honey granola
* I typically go for 1/2 banana, sliced *
making the smoothie bowl
mix almond milk, frozen fruits and greens in a blender until smooth.
* tip: I recommend stirring the smoothie frequently throughout the blending process + adding a little water if needed to get it as smooth as possible *
pour your smoothie into a bowl and add granola, sliced almonds, chia seeds, fresh fruit and any other toppings your little heart desires.
drizzle with honey and enjoy!

MEET MY BOYS
Hi sugar bears! I hope everyone is doing fabulous and staying healthy! For this post I decided it’s about dang time I introduce you to my little family. That tall, handsome babe next to me is my boyfriend of 9 years, Matthew. And that fluffy little white and brown monster is my sweet boy, George. (He is a little camera shy, clearly!)
Matthew and I met in middle school and eventually we started dating freshman year of high school. Little secret, I was obsessed with him pretty much that whole time and I definitely still am … hehe. Just like all couples, the two of us have been through good times, bad times, sad times and everything in between. We have grown up together and just about all of my memories have Matthew in them. Spilling my heart a little, I can’t imagine a life where I don’t have him in it. He is my best friend and I thank God everyday for him.
George-man became a part of the family years later when I finally convinced Matthew we had to have him. I was still living at home and my step dad at the time did not want a dog, at all! Unfortunely for him I didn’t listen and I got one anyways, oopsie poopsie! I had no clue how to tell my step dad about George and I was terrified so we hid George in my room for a few days until I got the courage to inform the family on our newest house mate. I couldn’t do a face to face confession so I wrote a note explaining my choices, tied it to George and he waddled off to deliver the message. His sweet self has been stealing the show ever since!

Let’s Talk Botox
Let me preface this post by saying, my intention is not to try and persuade anyone into getting Botox. I am just sharing my own experiences and sharing some knowledge!
We have all heard of Botox, or at least the vast majority. For those who don’t know, Botox is a neurotoxin that is used to prevent and treat wrinkles. It is used to treat other things as well, but cosmetic reasons are the most popular. If you have ever considered getting Botox but are intimidated or don’t know where to start, I am going to try my best to help!
Okay, let’s get one of the most popular questions out of the way. Does it hurt? My simple answer to that would be no. With that being said, everyone has a different pain tolerance and different areas of the face can differ with how painful the actual injection is. For example, around the eyes or top of the lip is a bit more uncomfortable to get treated than between the eyebrows or on your forehead. Topical numbing cream is also most likely going to be an available option for you, and it will help the discomfort if you are worried about it!
One of the most important things I can stress to you, is find a reputable place to get Botox. Skimping on price is not a good idea when it comes to needles in your face. I encourage you to do your research to find the best injectors in your area and ask questions. I repeat … ASK QUESTIONS!! Your injector should be able to answer any questions you have and make you feel 100% comfortable and on board before the actual injections begin.
One rule of thumb to keep in mind for your first appointment, is that you should expect to start more on the conservative side when it comes to amount of units. If you are in the hands of a master injector they should recommend that to you anyway, because why get more units than you need? If you still have movement or aren’t getting your desired results, you can always increase your dose at your next appointment!
Q: What is Botox?
A: Botox is a neurotoxin. It is used to block the signals from the nerves to the muscles, telling the muscles to contract. This results in the treatment and prevention of wrinkles and fine lines. Botox gives an overall smoother look to the skin and makes you look more refreshed and awake.
Q: How long does a normal Botox treatment take?
A: Botox treatments typically take about 10 minutes. Thats it!
Q: How long does it last?
A: Botox generally lasts between 3-4 months.
Q: How much is it?
A: On average, the cost of Botox per unit is anywhere from $10 to $15. The amount of units injected is personalized from patient to patient and depends on your desired result + strength of the muscles that are being treated. To give you a general idea of how many units you may need, I edited a little diagram to referance!
Q: Is there any down time?
A: Nope! After you get injected the only things you will want to avoid are heavy exercise and laying down flat for about 4-6 hours.
Q: Do you look weird right after the treatment?
A: Bruising is always a possibility of course, but most of the time you can’t even tell you had anything done aside from a little redness from the injections.
*Tip: To decrease your chances of bruising, it is recommended that you avoid alcohol for 24-48 hours before your appointment. The same goes for blood thinners such as Aspirin, Ibuprofen, fish oil, etc. Blood thinners and alcohol can increase your chances of bruising so try to avoid them if you can.*
Q: How long does it take to see results?
A: You should start seeing results 5-7 days after your treatment, but you will see your finished results after a full 2 weeks.
My personal experience with Botox has been amazing! I am 23 & have been getting Botox for about a year now. I get it mainly for preventative reasons but I have found that Botox also really helps with my tension headaches, which is a huge added bonus. My main goal was to make sure to get a head start on prevention before I got prominent irreversible wrinkles. The areas I get treated are my crows feet, my 11’s which is the area between my brows, the top of my lip for a “lip flip”, and I also get a little brow lift. I work for such an amazing med spa in Lexington, KY and I am blessed to be able to get treated by the the most talented injectors. If you’re in the Lexington area I highly recommend Prive’ Med Spa, you will be in the best of hands!
If you have been considering Botox, I don’t want to tell you if you should or shouldn’t get it. What I can do is tell you that I recommend finding the best injector/injectors in your area and schedule a consultation. You can meet with them and ask any questions you have. Don’t be shy and don’t be afraid to ask even the smallest of questions. You want to leave your consult feeling informed and full of information so you can make the best decision for yourself.
I really hope this post was informative and helpful because I know Botox can seem so overwhelming at first, but once you get more information on the treatment it isn’t so scary. On the other hand if you don’t feel like Botox is for you or you just simply don’t want it, that is okay too! It is a personal choice and you should only get Botox if you are making the decision with full certainty.
My Essentials For The Perfect “At Home” Spa Day
Lets face it, we all need a good rest and relaxation moment every now and then and going out to indulge in your local day spas may not always be an option for you. I am one of those people that takes “self care” pretty seriously but I don’t have hundreds of dollars to spend for weekly professional treatments. Meaning, I have gotten pretty good at creating the ultimate spa day at home and I’m here to share my personal essentials with you guys!
Duhhhh. What is a spa day without a good face mask? I am a little obsessed with them and I love all different kinds. Sheet masks, clay masks, gel masks, peel off masks, and my new favorite, hydrojelly masks! Different types of masks for different types of moods, ya know?
When you are choosing your face masks, you want to make sure you get the best type of mask for your skin! Find options that target any problem areas your skin has. “At home” masks can actually be pretty beneficial if you choose quality products that are right for you. Here are a few of my faves!
Nola Skinsentials “Pumpkin Enzyme Mask”
ZO Skin Health “Complexion Clearing Masque”
The Ordinary “AHA/BHA Peeling Solution”
Esthemax “Egyptian Rose” & “Illuminating Orange” Hydrojelly Masks
*p.s Esthemax is a “for licensed professionals only” site BUT I linked a retailer that carries a “diy” mask kit that anyone can purchase! I also recommend checking your local med spas and see if they carry them! I know Prive’ Med Spa in Lexington, KY carries some jelly masks. *
Yes honey, you totally need a foot spa in your life. Funny story, I bought a cheap foot spa to give as a “Dirty Santa” gift one year and the moment I bought it, I wanted it. I was working as a makeup artist at MAC and was on my feet all the time, so this looked heavenly to me. Me being me, I won it back in the game and lived happily ever after, haha! It is perfect for a little “pedispa” and I highly recommend you try one. I like to add a little “Teals” epsom salt to my foot bath and it is fantastic for sore/tired feet.
Here is the foot spa that I bought.
Facial tools are a really cool addition to your spa routine! I love using a Jade Roller that is chilled. I use it to stimulate the collagen and blood cells in my face and it is so relaxing and super calming. Another tool I love using is a little contoured stone called a “Gua Sha” to relieve tension in my facial muscles.
Both have quickly become spa essentials of mine. Here is a set with both the Jade Roller and the “Gua Sha”!
I am also OBSESSED with cupping my face. I know it sounds weird but I swear it’s a thing! There are tons of benefits from cupping, and I think it feels so so relaxing when incorporated into your skin care routine. I didn’t link a specific set because there are so many different options out there, but I got mine from Amazon so I recommend looking there! Last but not least, you have to have a good chilled eye mask!! I have a rose quartz one and I am obsessed with that thing. It feels so luxurious, and we all need a little extra luxury in this life, right? Here is a mask that I found, similar to mine!
We gotta show our locks some love too! I am obsessed with keratin treatments like this one from Paul Mitchell! Keratin helps to improve your hair strength and texture. It also helps to smooth out frizzy, unruly hair. Another treatment fave of mine is the No.3 Hair Perfector from Olaplex! You can find it here! I totally recommend getting an inexpensive little portable hair dryer as well. The one that sits up and covers your entire head, you know the one!
Just keep in mind that although adding heat to some hair treatments can be super beneficial, you want to make sure you are aware of how hot your dryer is, and make sure you don’t over use it. Here is the one I have, but there are tons of other more inexpensive options available!
All of these things are so fun and a great way to treat yourself in the comforts of your own home! You deserve to treat yourself & show yourself some extra love. We all have to prioritize taking care of “me”.
On that note, go enjoy! xoxo
